Police in Limpopo have launched a large-scale manhunt for two armed suspects linked to a string of violent crimes in Hoveni village, near Tzaneen. The men are accused of breaking into several homes, committing rape — including against minors — and shooting some of their victims.
According to police, several people injured during the attacks are currently being treated in hospital, while the suspects also made off with household items during the violent crime spree.
Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, confirmed that investigations are ongoing. He said a dedicated task team has been formed to track down the perpetrators.
“In response to these heinous acts, Limpopo Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has established a specialized team of detectives from the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit, Crime Intelligence, and the Tactical Response Team to investigate. We will not rest until the suspects are behind bars,” said Ledwaba.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as the community reels from the brutality of the attacks.
