Police have confirmed that three 11-year-old boys have come forward in connection with a fire that severely damaged Riverlea High School in late April.

The blaze, which broke out on the evening of 27 April—just days before the start of the second school term—destroyed 11 classrooms and the entire boys’ toilet block. Of the classrooms affected, four were in active use by Grade 8 learners, while the rest were unoccupied.

Authorities are currently questioning the minors and their families as part of the investigation into the cause of the fire. No official charges have been laid at this stage.

The fire has disrupted learning for many pupils, with officials working on contingency plans to ensure classes can resume with minimal delay.
