A key suspect linked to the disappearance of journalist Aserie Ndlovu and his partner, Zodwa Mdhluli, is expected to appear in the Mamelodi Magistrate’s Court in north-eastern Pretoria on Tuesday morning, following a significant breakthrough in the investigation.

The development comes after the arrest of four suspects on Monday. Three of the individuals are set to appear later this week in the KwaMhlanga Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga.

Authorities say the suspects were found in possession of car parts believed to belong to Ndlovu’s vehicle, raising further suspicions about their involvement in the couple’s disappearance.

Deputy Minister in the Presidency Kenny Morolong, who visited the Ndlovu family to offer support, confirmed that there has been “significant progress” in the joint investigation between the Gauteng and Mpumalanga police departments.

“The sense we have received from the police is that there has been substantial movement in the case,” said Morolong. “We are encouraged by the progress, and further updates will be provided in due course.”

Morolong also noted the continued support being provided to Ndlovu’s family, particularly from the National Press Council, recognizing the journalist's respected role in the media community.

“As government, we stand firmly for media freedom and remain committed to supporting the family during this difficult time,” he added.

The investigation into the disappearance of Ndlovu and Mdhluli remains ongoing, as authorities piece together the events leading up to their vanishing.
