A brutal double murder near Adam’s Mission on Monday has left a South Coast community in shock and mourning.

A 56-year-old man and his 26-year-old son were fatally shot after their vehicle reportedly broke down along the R603. Gunmen opened fire on the family, wounding the 46-year-old mother, who is recovering from her injuries.

Ward 67 councillor Siphephelo Mnyandu has strongly condemned the attack, calling it a grim reflection of the growing violence in the region.

“It’s a very bad thing that shows how crime is escalating in our area,” Mnyandu said. “We are reaching a point where people no longer feel safe in a free South Africa. Families should not be gunned down simply for travelling on our roads.”

He has urged law enforcement to step up efforts in curbing violent crime and bringing those responsible to justice.

No arrests have been reported, and police are continuing their investigation.
