Parts of the N12 have been submerged due to flooding, prompting authorities to advise motorists to avoid the affected areas and make use of alternative routes.

The flooding comes amid rising water levels in the Vaal River, which remain a major concern for emergency services. In response, seven sluice gates at the Vaal Dam remain open to manage the increasing volume of water.

Emergency personnel, including police divers, have been deployed to the area. Authorities are urging fishermen to steer clear of the riverbanks, while precautionary evacuations of nearby residents are currently underway.

Officials continue to monitor the situation closely and are appealing to the public to exercise caution and follow all safety advisories.
