The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is urging students to settle outstanding rent payments with landlords to avoid eviction or future allowance deductions. This comes after a R13,800 allowance was disbursed last week, with R10,800 allocated specifically for housing.
NSFAS spokesperson Ishmael Mnisi confirmed that payments have already been made to institutions and called on students to submit proof of payment to Financial Aid Officers. He also appealed to student representative councils to assist in ensuring compliance, warning that failure to pay could lead to disruptions.
