One of the eight suspects implicated in the disturbing Zanzou nightclub torture case will learn his fate on Wednesday morning, as the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court prepares to deliver judgment on his bail application.
The 41-year-old Congolese national faces multiple charges, including eight counts of compelled sexual assault. He is one of several men arrested in connection with a graphic video that surfaced earlier this year, allegedly showing male patrons being forced to sexually assault one another inside the Pretoria nightclub.
The footage sparked national outrage and led to a widespread investigation into what authorities have described as "a deeply troubling and criminal incident."
The state is opposing the accused's release on bail, arguing that the seriousness of the charges and the potential risk to public safety warrant continued detention.
The court is expected to deliver its decision later today.
