Six-year-old Joshlin Smith was allegedly sold for her appearance, according to testimony from Laurentia Lombard, the state's key witness in the ongoing case. Lombard told the Western Cape High Court that the child was sold for her eyes and skin, a shocking claim that has drawn significant attention.

Lombard, who was initially arrested as one of the suspects alongside Joshlin’s mother, Kelly Smith, and two other co-accused, has since turned state witness. Last week, Lombard revealed that Kelly Smith had sold her daughter to a sangoma (traditional healer) for 20,000 rand. Lombard became aware of the plan the night before Joshlin was reported missing.

In her testimony, Lombard expressed feelings of hurt and remorse for the role she played and the tragic events that unfolded. The case has sparked outrage and widespread concern over the well-being of the young girl and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
