The Bushbuckridge Magistrate's Court in Mpumalanga has postponed the murder case of 42-year-old police officer Nyiko Nyathi, who faces two counts of murder. Nyathi is accused of killing her husband, Lawrence Mashego, and 44-year-old Victoria Lebyane in February 2024.

According to reports, Mashego was kidnapped by armed men at his home and taken to another location, where Lebyane was found. The suspects stole cash and two vehicles before killing both victims.

Four suspects were later apprehended, with one pleading guilty and sentenced to 77 years in prison. Nyathi handed herself over to the police earlier this week. She will appear in court again on Monday.
