The South African Weather Service has issued a level two warning for severe thunderstorms affecting the extreme western regions of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) on Monday. The warning covers several areas, including the Amajuba District Municipality, uThukela, northwestern parts of Umzinyathi (specifically Endumeni Local Municipality), as well as the western sections of uMgungundlovu and Harry Gwala.

Forecaster Nhlanhla Sithole explained that these areas should prepare for heavy downpours and intense lightning. "It will primarily be severe storms, and it's hard to predict exactly what type of storm it will be—whether it will involve excessive lightning, damaging winds, or heavy rainfall," Sithole said.

While it is anticipated that heavy rain will be the main feature, there is still uncertainty as to whether the storms will be accompanied by hail or further extreme weather conditions. Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions throughout the day.
