The second week of the highly publicized trial surrounding the disappearance of seven-year-old Joshlin Smith continues in the Western Cape Circuit High Court.
During the first week, multiple police officers testified about the events of February last year, when Smith went missing. The state alleges that she was kidnapped and trafficked.
Among the accused are the child’s mother, Kelly Smith, her boyfriend, Jacquen Appollis, and Steveno van Rhyn. Testimonies have highlighted inconsistencies in Kelly Smith’s statements, raising further suspicion about her involvement.
The case has gripped the local community, with many Saldanha residents closely following proceedings in the hope of justice and answers.
