Forensic experts from the South African Police Service (SAPS) arrived at Solo Restaurant in Sandton on Friday morning to investigate a fatal shooting that left three people dead and four others wounded.
The shooting, which took place on Thursday evening, saw gunmen open fire inside the upscale restaurant. Among the injured were two regular customers who were caught in the crossfire.
Authorities seized two AK-47 rifles and two handguns at the scene, raising concerns about escalating violence in the area.
Preliminary police investigations revealed that one of the deceased had been involved in a previous shooting at Tempo Restaurant in Sandton last year and was still facing an attempted murder charge in court.
The area has been cordoned off as a crime scene, with heightened security measures in place. A local resident, who frequently walks past the restaurant, expressed concerns about safety.
"It’s quite shocking. I pass by here every morning, and now I feel uneasy. The situation makes me skeptical about security in the area," she said.
Police investigations into the motive behind the shooting are ongoing.
