A major drug bust by the SAPS National Organised Crime Investigation Narcotics Unit has led to the seizure of scheduled medicine, steroids, and other performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) worth an estimated R15 million.
The illicit substances were discovered at a self-storage facility in Derdepoort on Wednesday, 5 March 2025, as part of ongoing investigations into a suspected drug syndicate.
This latest breakthrough follows the arrest of six suspects linked to the syndicate on 11 February 2025. While charges against two of them have been provisionally withdrawn, authorities continue to track the group's activities.
Preliminary investigations suggest the syndicate was using an online platform to trade and distribute scheduled medicine, steroids, stimulants, and other illicit substances.
SAPS has confirmed that investigations are still ongoing.
