A deadly shooting at Solo, a popular Sandton restaurant, claimed three lives and left four others injured on Thursday night.
According to reports, the violence erupted when a man carrying a firearm attempted to enter the restaurant, which enforces a strict no-firearm policy. An altercation ensued, leading to a shootout between the man's bodyguards and the venue’s security guards.
Two of the bodyguards were pronounced dead at the scene. Five others—including the man at the center of the altercation, a community policing forum member, two restaurant patrons, and a security guard—were rushed to the hospital. However, the man later succumbed to his injuries.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased man had a history of firearm-related offenses and had been arrested for a similar shooting incident in Sandton last year.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and police investigations are ongoing.
