Investigations are underway after a drive-by shooting claimed the life of one person and left two others injured on Higginson Highway in Chatsworth, south of Durban, on Thursday morning.
While details remain unclear, it is reported that gunmen opened fire on a vehicle carrying three individuals near the Crossmoor off-ramp before fleeing the scene in their bakkie.
Siven Subramodey of Amawele Emergency Services confirmed that one of the victims was shot multiple times and later died at the scene from his injuries. "The driver succumbed to his injuries with multiple gunshot wounds, and he was declared deceased on the scene," Subramodey said.
An 18-year-old male was shot in the leg, while another individual sustained injuries. Both were treated and stabilized at the scene by Amawele medics before being transported to a nearby hospital for further care.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident, and no arrests have been made so far.
