Ten people have lost their lives in a tragic bus crash on the N6 near Reddersburg, approximately 60 kilometres south of Bloemfontein.
According to the Free State Provincial Road Incident Management System, more than 20 passengers sustained injuries when the bus collided with a heavy vehicle.
Emergency teams and police have been deployed to the scene to assist with rescue operations and investigate the cause of the crash. Some passengers were reportedly trapped in the wreckage, requiring urgent intervention from first responders.
The bus was travelling from Gauteng to the Eastern Cape when the accident occurred.
Sipho Towa from the EMS control centre confirmed that rescue efforts were underway to free those trapped and provide medical assistance to the injured.
Authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution as investigations into the cause of the crash continue.
