The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) has confirmed a marginal decrease in fuel prices for March, providing some relief for motorists and households.
According to the department, both grades of petrol will decrease by 7 cents per litre, while diesel prices will drop by 17.5 and 23.5 cents per litre, depending on the grade. Additionally, paraffin prices will see an 8-cent reduction, and LP gas will become 2 cents cheaper per kilogram.
Department spokesperson Robert Maake attributed the adjustments to lower global oil prices and a stronger rand.
"The slate levy remains unchanged at zero cents per litre for petrol and diesel, while the IP tracer dye levy has been reduced from 1 cent to 0.5 cents per litre, following ministerial approval," Maake stated.
The price changes will take effect this week.
