Two men were assaulted and shot in Amaoti, KwaZulu-Natal, on Monday night in what appears to be a gang-related attack.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to the scene in an area known as Namibia at around 22:08. Upon arrival, it was established that the victims, aged 27 and 28, had been returning home after consuming alcohol when they were confronted by a group of five men.
The attackers accused them of being members of the West Gang before physically assaulting them and opening fire. The suspects fled the scene in a black Toyota Corolla Professional and a silver Hyundai i20, both with unknown registration plates.
The injured victims were rushed to the hospital before the arrival of law enforcement. Authorities are investigating the incident.
