Recovery operations are ongoing at two beaches on the Bluff, Durban, after the bodies of four individuals were discovered on Wednesday morning. Emergency responders reported that two of the victims were children, with a little girl, around five years old, and a boy, approximately 10, found washed ashore at Cuttings Beach.

It remains unclear whether their deaths are connected to the heavy rains that triggered flash floods across the province the previous night, submerging many roads.

Search and rescue teams are working to confirm if the children are among the victims of a flash flood in Lamontville, where five people were swept into a canal on Tuesday night.

The beach area is strewn with debris and rubbish from the heavy rainfall, further complicating the recovery efforts. Emergency crews are now preparing to retrieve two additional bodies from Ansteys Beach.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of death and linking the incidents to the widespread flooding.
