Alleged underworld figure Nafiz Modack resumed his testimony in the Cape Town High Court today, continuing his defense against charges related to the murder of Anti-Gang Unit detective Charl Kinnear.
Modack denied instructing his co-accused, Zane Killian, to ping Kinnear’s phone on the day the detective was murdered in September 2020. Kinnear, who was investigating Modack at the time, was shot and killed outside his home in Bishop Lavis.
Modack and Killian are among 15 individuals currently on trial, facing numerous charges, including murder, attempted murder, and violations of the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.
During his testimony, Modack explained that he had enlisted Killian’s services to ping cell phones in June 2020, stating that Killian, a former rugby player, was working as a debt collector at the time.
The trial continues as Modack's defense team presents further testimony in the case.
