Motorists traveling along the N3 will have to dig deeper into their pockets as new toll tariffs are set to take effect from March 1, 2025. The updated rates, which include 15% VAT, will impact various toll plazas along the route.
According to the tariff schedule, light motor vehicles (Class 1) will now pay R96.00 at the Tugela Mainline Toll Plaza, R90.00 at Wilge, and R67.00 at Mooi. Meanwhile, larger vehicles such as trucks and buses (Class 4) will face significant toll costs, with fees reaching R347.00 at Tugela and R313.00 at Mooi.
The increase comes as part of annual toll adjustments to accommodate infrastructure maintenance and road improvements along the busy corridor connecting Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
Authorities have urged motorists to plan ahead and factor in the higher toll rates when budgeting for long-distance travel.
