Isipingo SAPS has made significant strides in dismantling a large motor vehicle parts theft syndicate, leading to the arrest of the alleged mastermind. The suspect, who is linked to multiple theft cases in the Isipingo area—including the theft of vehicle parts from SAPS custody—remains in police custody.
On January 16, 2025, a multi-disciplinary operation was carried out at the suspect’s residence. Vehicle identification experts were called to the scene, where they identified and seized several items, including two car doors, an engine block with a tampered engine number, and a motor vehicle vendor with a micro-dot bearing a chassis number. These items are connected to a previous case in Midrand and were stored at the Isipingo SAPS pound.
Expert statements are currently being prepared and will be handed over to the investigating officer, Constable Donald Naidoo, as part of the ongoing investigation.
The suspect is set to appear in the Umlazi Magistrates Court soon.
