POPCRU Calls for Suspension of 11 Police Officers Facing Corruption Charges

The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU ) is calling for the immediate suspension of 11 police officers who appeared in the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, facing serious corruption and extortion charges.

The group of accused officers includes senior personnel from various units, including the Sedibeng District, Evaton SAPS, Meyerton SAPS, and the Gauteng Highway Patrol. Among those in the dock are a Colonel, two Lieutenant-Colonels, two Sergeants, and seven Constables.

The officers are facing multiple charges, including corruption and extortion, in connection with their alleged criminal activities.
