Authorities are investigating the possibility that one of their own played a role in the escape of James Neo Tsoeli, a key figure connected to illegal mining activities. Tsoeli, who is charged with overseeing operations at an abandoned mine shaft, has been on the run since last week after he managed to escape during rescue operations.
North West Deputy Police Commissioner Patrick Asaneng has issued a stern warning, stating that both those who corrupt and those who are corrupted will face prosecution. A multidisciplinary task team has been established to probe Tsoeli's escape and uncover any potential inside involvement.
Tsoeli, who is linked to the notorious illegal mining kingpin known as "Tiger," remains at large as authorities intensify their search.
