Fourth Suspect Arrested in Connection with Qwaqwa Police Officers’ Murder

A fourth suspect has been arrested in connection with the tragic killing of two police officers from Qwaqwa in the eastern Free State. Constables Sipho Mohapi and Gedione Motloung, members of Namahadi Visible Policing, were fatally shot on January 4 while responding to a house robbery in Phuthaditjhaba.

The latest arrest took place on Tuesday in Mangaung village, Qwaqwa. The 29-year-old South African suspect was found in possession of a firearm, ammunition, a balaclava, and a cellphone.

According to Hawks spokesperson Katlego Mogale, three other suspects, including one Lesotho national, have already appeared in court on charges of murder, house robbery, and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Authorities have praised the local communities for their support in helping the investigative team identify and apprehend the perpetrators, ensuring that they will face justice.
