CIT Incident Reported in Dube Village, KwaMashu

Authorities are investigating an attempted cash-in-transit (CIT) heist that occurred at the Dube Village Mall in Inanda, KwaZulu-Natal, on Tuesday. A security officer was shot in the leg during the attempted robbery.

According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the incident unfolded when five armed suspects opened fire on the security officer as he exited the rear of the cash vehicle. Despite the gunshot wound, the officer managed to retreat back into the vehicle. The suspects fled the scene empty-handed.

The injured officer, who was bleeding profusely from the gunshot wound, was airlifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. In addition to the shooting, several stray bullets shattered windows at a fast food outlet located near the scene.

Law enforcement officials have responded to the area, and residents are urged to avoid the vicinity while the investigation continues. Authorities are expected to provide further updates as more details emerge.
