Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund believes the team needs more time to fully adapt to newly appointed manager Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system. After scoring both goals in United’s 2-1 Europa League win at Viktoria Plzen on Thursday, Hojlund acknowledged that while the formation suits his playing style, it requires further refinement.
“We still need more time. It’s still very early days,” the 21-year-old Denmark international told TNT Sports. “It’s about getting the routines together, and I think it’s starting to click, but it still needs a lot of practice and time. We don’t have many training sessions, so we have to learn it during the matches. It might sound a bit odd, but it’s how you learn best.”
Hojlund also highlighted the challenging conditions in Plzen, where United struggled with the cold weather and a boggy pitch in the first half before making a second-half comeback to secure the win and stay in contention for a direct qualification to the round of 16 in the competition.
“It was a bit difficult. Very cold, and the pitch was a bit boggy. We had to deal with it, but we solved it in the second half,” he added.
United, currently 13th in the Premier League, will face defending champions Manchester City in a crucial derby on Sunday.
