A harrowing discovery was made in Durban central on Wednesday when two fetuses, believed to be twins, were found in a toilet at a private residence on Monty Naicker Road, South Beach.
Garrith Jamieson of ALS Paramedics confirmed that emergency services were called to the scene, but there was nothing they could do. "Paramedics assessed and found it was actually two fetuses believed to be twins, and unfortunately, they were declared deceased on the scene," said Jamieson.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the incident.
This marks the second such tragic call attended by ALS Paramedics in just a few days.
In a plea to the public, Jamieson urged individuals to seek help from clinics or government facilities. “They can advise and assist you in the process, instead of dumping fetuses in public places,” he said.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding this distressing case.
