The Border Management Authority (BMA) has heightened its alert level following the arrest of a taxi driver attempting to smuggle 25 undocumented foreign nationals from Zimbabwe into South Africa. Among the passengers were 20 children, who have since been relocated to a place of safety.
Jane Thupana, Deputy Commissioner of Corporate Affairs at the BMA, confirmed that there has been a recent surge in the smuggling of illegal immigrants into the country. The authorities are taking stringent measures to curb this growing issue.
