As the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign concludes on Tuesday, over 100 activists have been welcomed to KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) to support efforts in tackling gender-based violence (GBV). During a closing ceremony on Monday, KZN Premier Thami Ntuli handed over 170 letters of appointment to the activists, who will volunteer at police stations across the province.

The activists will work to raise awareness and drive initiatives to combat GBV, interacting with both the community and survivors. Premier Ntuli highlighted the province's critical situation, noting that KZN ranks fourth in the country for GBV cases, with Inanda being the highest in the nation.

“Having GBV activists stationed at our police stations will be a practical approach to addressing this urgent issue,” Ntuli said, emphasizing the importance of continued efforts to fight GBV in the province.
