A tragic incident unfolded in Morningside, near Durban’s CBD, early on Tuesday morning when a fetus was discovered wrapped in a plastic bag and abandoned on Montpellier Road.
Marshall Security, together with SAPS and ALS Paramedics, responded to the scene shortly after 6:20 AM. Upon arrival, officials confirmed the presence of the fetus, estimated to be between 26 and 30 weeks old. Sadly, paramedics declared it deceased at the scene.
Due to the condition of the fetus, authorities were unable to determine its gender or race. The identity of the mother remains unknown, and police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Andreas, a spokesperson for Marshall Security, urged the community to come forward with any information that could assist in identifying the mother or provide context for the incident. “If anyone knows of someone who may have undergone an abortion in the last week, we ask them to notify authorities,” he said.
This devastating discovery has left many shocked, and SAPS continues to appeal to residents for cooperation as investigations progress.
