Police and officials at OR Tambo International Airport had a busy week as they arrested two drug traffickers attempting to smuggle narcotics into South Africa.
On Thursday, authorities apprehended a woman arriving from São Paulo, Brazil, with nearly R2 million worth of cocaine hidden around her upper body. The woman faces charges of drug trafficking and is expected to appear in court soon.
Earlier in the week, a Brazilian man was also arrested after being found with over three kilograms of cocaine, valued at R1.8 million, wrapped around his torso. Both arrests highlight ongoing efforts by authorities to combat international drug trafficking at the airport.
