The African National Congress Women’s League (ANCWL) is set to lead a march to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to protest against gender-based violence and femicide.
The march forms part of the ongoing 16 Days of Activism campaign, which aims to raise awareness and drive action to end violence against women and children.
Nokuthula Nqaba, the league's secretary-general, emphasized the urgent need for stronger measures to combat gender-based violence.
“It is against this background of the consistent onslaught against women in this country that the Women’s League, in collaboration with all structures of the mass democratic movement, our alliance components, the Progressive Women’s Movement of South Africa, faith-based organizations, broader civil society, and other political formations, has resolved to intensify our advocacy for the implementation and strengthening of national prevention strategies,” Nqaba stated.
The march will unite a range of stakeholders, including political groups, community organizations, and faith-based institutions, as they call for decisive action to address the crisis of gender-based violence in South Africa.
This event highlights the ANCWL's ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and empowerment of women across the country.
