eThekwini Municipality's disaster response teams are working tirelessly to provide relief to over 200 residents who were displaced after a devastating fire swept through an informal settlement in Sea Cow Lake.
The inferno, which erupted at the Springfield settlement on Wednesday afternoon, destroyed approximately 165 homes.
According to municipal officials, two individuals were treated for smoke inhalation, but no fatalities have been reported.
In a statement, the city confirmed that various municipal departments, alongside non-governmental organizations, are on-site to assist the affected community. Efforts include providing temporary shelter and other essential aid.
