The Department of Basic Education has confirmed that the 2024 Matric results will be published, following a recent enforcement notice from the Information Regulator that sought to halt their release due to concerns over non-compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act.
Minister of Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube, addressed the issue, stating that publishing the results in newspapers does not constitute an invasion of privacy. She emphasized that this practice allows for easier access to information for students.
Gwarube reassured the public that the department remains committed to balancing privacy concerns with the need to provide students with timely access to their results.
