Johannesburg City Manager, Floyd Brink, has announced that water will be restored to the areas of Westbury and Coronationville by the end of this week. Brink also revealed that new water projects are underway to address the ongoing water supply issues, ensuring a long-term solution to the problem.
In the meantime, water tanks and trucks will be deployed to provide temporary relief to residents. This follows a protest in Westbury on Wednesday morning, where frustrated community members took to the streets to demand action over the persistent water shortages.
At least one person was arrested during the demonstration, as locals expressed their anger over the lack of water, a problem they say has persisted for over a decade. Residents are now calling on the Gauteng provincial government to step in and help resolve the issue.
