Eight people have been injured in a crash on the N3 Pietermaritzburg-bound carriageway, just before Shongweni in Durban. The collision involved two vehicles, one of which was reportedly transporting employees to work.
According to Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for Advanced Life Support (ALS), paramedics arrived at the scene to find that two vehicles had collided, with one overturning and coming to rest on its roof in the center median. “Multiple casualties were found with various injuries,” Jamieson said, prompting the dispatch of additional ALS ambulances and paramedics.
All eight injured individuals were treated at the scene before being transported to various hospitals in Durban for further medical care. The exact cause of the crash remains unclear, but South African Police Services (SAPS) were on site and will be conducting an investigation.
