Temporary N2 Road Closures Announced for King Cetshwayo Bridge Construction

Durban: The South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) has announced a series of temporary road closures on the N2 highway to facilitate the removal of bridge beams for the King Cetshwayo (M13) Bridge construction. These closures are part of a major upgrade to ease traffic congestion on the N2 and at the EB Cloete Interchange.

Closure Schedule:

  1. N2 Southbound
    • Saturday, 23 November 2024, 20:00 – Sunday, 24 November 2024, 04:00
    • Saturday, 30 November 2024, 20:00 – Sunday, 1 December 2024, 04:00
  2. N2 Northbound
    • Sunday, 24 November 2024, 20:00 – Monday, 25 November 2024, 04:00
    • Sunday, 1 December 2024, 20:00 – Monday, 2 December 2024, 04:00

Closure Details:

  • Southbound Closures:
    • No access to N2 South from Umgeni Road (M19) and Inanda Road Interchanges.
    • N2 Northbound and M19 remain open.
  • Northbound Closures:
    • Ramps from N3 (eastbound and westbound) to N2 North are closed.
    • N2 Northbound between EB Cloete Interchange and Umgeni Interchange will be inaccessible.
    • Only access to N3 East or Westbound will be available at EB Cloete.
