A Western Cape couple, aged 46 and 38, appeared in the Atlantis Magistrate's Court to continue their bail application after being arrested on charges including rape and human trafficking. The arrests, conducted by a multi-agency law enforcement team, took place two weeks ago.
The couple’s two minor children have been placed in the custody of the Department of Social Development. The primary complainant, a South African citizen, had reportedly worked for the couple both in Qatar and South Africa.
The court will resume the bail application proceedings on 21 November.
