Police in KwaZulu-Natal have arrested a 17-year-old matric pupil on charges of attempted murder and robbery after a violent stabbing outside a school in Merebank, south of Durban, on Wednesday.
The incident left a 15-year-old fellow student severely injured and required immediate medical attention. According to KZN police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda, the attacker also stole the victim’s school bag during the assault.
Netshiunda confirmed the arrest, stating, "Police in Wentworth have arrested a 17-year-old suspect who allegedly attacked a 15-year-old boy and stabbed him multiple times. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment."
The suspect is now facing both attempted murder and robbery charges as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
