12 Learners from Tamaho Primary School Still Hospitalized After Suspected Food Poisoning

 Twelve students from Tamaho Primary School in Katlehong remain hospitalized after a suspected case of food poisoning, according to the Gauteng Education Department. The incident affected a total of 110 students who reportedly began experiencing severe stomach cramps and vomiting shortly after consuming samp during their school break.

Gauteng Education Department spokesperson, Steve Mabona, confirmed that while 98 of the affected students have since been discharged, twelve are still under medical observation.

Local health authorities are investigating the cause of the outbreak, with initial assessments pointing toward food contamination. The Department has assured parents that it is prioritizing the safety and health of all students and working closely with medical teams to manage the situation.
