A 19-year-old woman was threatened with rape during a home invasion in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal, on Thursday. The robbery, which occurred in broad daylight, prompted the victim to contact Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at approximately 14:14.

The distressed teenager informed the RUSA Operations Controller that four suspects had forced their way into the home, robbing the residence and fleeing with household items. Reaction officers were dispatched to the scene, where it was confirmed that three of the suspects were armed with pangas, while a fourth carried a firearm.

The robbers held a 64-year-old woman and her 42-year-old daughter at gunpoint. The teenager, who hid in the bathroom after hearing the commotion, was confronted by the suspects, who threatened to rape her. One of the assailants, however, intervened and prevented any physical harm.

The suspects escaped in a silver Toyota Auris, with the registration number unknown. No injuries were reported, and authorities are investigating the incident.

The search for the suspects continues.
