Fuel prices continue to decline, marking the fifth consecutive monthly drop in October. The price of 95 unleaded petrol will decrease by R1.14 per litre, while 93 petrol will see a reduction of R1.06.
Diesel prices will also fall, with the wholesale cost dropping by between R1.12 and R1.14 per litre. Additionally, the price of illuminating paraffin will decrease by R1.48 per litre.
Robert Maake from the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy attributed the ongoing price cuts to several factors. "The lower oil prices, a stronger rand against the US dollar during the review period, and the slate levy remaining unchanged at zero cents per litre for both petrol and diesel contributed to the decrease," Maake explained.
These reductions are expected to offer some relief to consumers amid rising living costs.
