Westown, a major mixed-use development in KwaZulu-Natal, will launch its first phase in 2025. Located on the N3 between Pietermaritzburg and Durban, it aims to become a key economic hub, similar to Midrand.

The first phase, including Westown Square Mall and The Barn, will open on March 27, 2025. Westown is expected to generate R15 billion in investment over the next 10-15 years, with R1.3 billion already secured. The 50,000 sqm Westown Square Mall will feature major retailers like Checkers, Pick n Pay, and Clicks, along with restaurants and recreational spaces.

The Shongweni Eco-Park, developed by Balwin Properties, will offer 1,260 apartments starting in 2025. Additional developments, including Farrier Business Park and West Private Hospital, will further support the area’s growth, solidifying Westown as a new economic hub in Durban’s Outer West.
