President Cyril Ramaphosa has extended an invitation to more Chinese companies to participate in South Africa’s investment conferences. Speaking to international investors in Beijing this morning, Ramaphosa underscored his efforts to foster greater investment from China.
Currently in China to attend the Forum for China-Africa Co-operation (FOCAC) Summit, Ramaphosa has been actively engaging with Chinese firms to encourage their investment in South Africa. He highlighted the opportunities available for Chinese companies, stating, “I would like to invite more Chinese companies to attend our investment conferences. These events will allow you to discuss your investment interests and interact with South African businesses that are already contributing to our economy.”
Ramaphosa emphasized the country’s strategic focus on the energy sector, noting South Africa’s commitment to revolutionizing its energy infrastructure with a focus on low-carbon, climate-resilient development. “We are actively seeking investment in the energy sector, particularly in renewables and green hydrogen. China has a proven track record in innovative renewable energy solutions, and by collaborating, we can create sustainable, environmentally friendly energy solutions that benefit both our nations,” he said.
He also highlighted the potential for creating value chains that drive job creation and economic growth through such partnerships.
