South African mountain biker Alan Hatherly has secured a bronze medal in the men's cross-country race at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This achievement marks South Africa’s second medal at these Games, following the Blitzboks' bronze in men’s rugby sevens.

Looking ahead, Team South Africa is poised for a potential gold medal on Monday evening. Tatjana Smith, silver medalist in the 100-meter breaststroke at the Tokyo Olympics, is a strong contender. She dominated both her heat and semi-final on Sunday, finishing more than half a second ahead of her nearest competitor.

Additionally, Pieter Coetze is also in the mix for a medal. He posted the joint third-fastest time in the men’s 100-meter backstroke and will compete in the final, scheduled for approximately 21:19. Smith’s race will follow shortly at 21:25.
