The father of Captain Zwelakhe Ntombela, a Durban metro police officer murdered outside his Umlazi home in May last year, is calling for a severe sentence for his son's killers. Mandlenkosi Ntombela, the hitman who confessed and reached a plea deal with the State, received a 20-year prison sentence.

Ntombela's plea implicated the officer's wife as the mastermind behind the murder. She, along with two other co-accused, including a school principal, appeared in Durban High Court on Thursday. Their case is set for a pretrial conference on August 15.

The victim's father, Bheki Ntombela, expressed his desire for the harshest punishment possible, stating, "If the death penalty still existed, I would wish for it. At least a life sentence so that she will not be able to come back again because she is not a person or a human being. It is unthinkable."
