Princess Anne, sister of King Charles III, was hospitalized on Monday with "minor injuries and concussion" following an incident involving a horse at her country home, Gatcombe Park, in southwest England late on Sunday, according to Buckingham Palace.
The 73-year-old royal, a dedicated horsewoman who competed in the 1976 Montreal Olympics, is currently under observation at Southmead Hospital in Bristol as a precautionary measure and is expected to recover fully and swiftly, the palace statement confirmed.
Her husband, Tim Laurence, was present at Gatcombe Park during the incident and accompanied her to the hospital. Princess Anne's children, Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips, were also at the estate at the time.
The incident occurred on the grounds known for hosting the Festival of British Eventing annually, drawing top equestrian talents worldwide.
Due to her hospitalization, Princess Anne's upcoming engagements, including attending a state banquet for the emperor and empress of Japan and a planned visit to Canada, have been postponed, the palace announced.
