The National Consumer Commission (NCC) is conducting nationwide inspections to ensure businesses comply with consumer protection regulations.

This follows significant violations of the Consumer Protection Act uncovered by the NCC in Limpopo, particularly the sale of expired or near-expired products.

NCC Spokesperson Phetho Ntaba stated that some suppliers prioritize their interests over consumer well-being. Ntaba explained, “Many goods in the market or on shelves have passed their best-before or sell-by dates. We're seeing products like cool drinks, juices, noodles, and baby formula with best-before dates from as far back as January 2023 or even December 2022. In some cases, date markings have been tampered with.”
