The African National Congress has announced its lineup of premier candidates for the provincial legislatures following the 2024 elections. Despite losing its majority in KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, and the Northern Cape, and securing only 40% of the national vote, the ANC retained dominance in Limpopo, Eastern Cape, North West, Mpumalanga, and the Free State.
ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula stated that the candidates underwent interviews chaired by former president Kgalema Motlanthe, emphasizing the party's commitment to restoring trust and advancing socio-economic transformation.
The confirmed premiers include Panyaza Lesufi (Gauteng), Oscar Mabuyane (Eastern Cape), Zamani Saul (Northern Cape), Phophi Ramathuba (Limpopo), Mandla Ndlovu (Mpumalanga), Kagiso Lazarus Mokgosi (North West), and Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae (Free State), replacing incumbents in each respective province.
